About Smith’s Lawyers

Smith’s Lawyers is a Queensland compensation law firm founded in 1996 by Greg Smith, its Founder and Principal Lawyer. The firm says Greg Smith, a University of Queensland law graduate, started it after his own experience of the compensation system. That experience followed a motor vehicle accident at age 18. It also says he has worked exclusively in compensation law since opening the firm. According to the firm, his base is on the Gold Coast.

Queensland offices

The firm’s contact page lists three Queensland offices. One is at Level 18, 324 Queen Street, Brisbane City. Another is on Thomas Drive, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. The third is the Regatta 1 Business Centre at Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast. All three use the same 1800 960 482 number. The website also has location pages for other Queensland centres, including Cairns, Townsville, Toowoomba, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Ipswich and Logan. However, these pages do not show separate street offices.

Claims and fees

Smith’s Lawyers handles motor vehicle and road injury claims (including motorcycle accidents) and workplace injury and WorkCover claims. It also handles public place injury claims, and superannuation and TPD claims. In addition, it lists institutional abuse claims and silicosis compensation claims.

The firm’s fee model is its “No Win. No Fee. No Catch”® promise. It says it runs all claims on a no win, no fee basis. If a case goes to court and is unsuccessful, the firm says it will cover the costs. As a result, the client does not pay the firm or anyone else. The firm contrasts this with other cost agreements. Under those, a client who loses in court may be liable for the other side’s legal costs.

Smith’s says it does not charge a fixed percentage. If a claim succeeds, the client pays for the actual work done. The firm also notes that Queensland rules prevent a law firm charging more than 50% of the compensation received. It deducts fees and costs from the settlement before paying the balance to the client. It also offers free advice seven days a week.

Results and accreditation

The firm reports recovering $28 million in settlements for clients in the past financial year. However, the pages reviewed for this profile did not name a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Personal Injuries Law. The firm also did not appear in the Doyle’s Guide 2026 Queensland plaintiff compensation firm lists checked.
